  • Hot keys for main menu?

Posted by Dave Friend on February 2, 2006 at 4:39 pm

Is it just my system or do the main menu hot keys not work in 2.0? As a windows application I expect to press and hold the Alt key and then press the underlined letter of a main menu item and have that menu open. That’s not happening. A bug, my bad or a “feature”?

[Dave Friend] “s it just my system or do the main menu hot keys not work in 2.0?”

They work perfectly for me. Does this happen with any other app?

No, all other apps function fine. Thinking I might have caused a problem with keyboard mapping I reset to the default keyboard but that made no difference.

Hotkeys work fine but not menu access. Wierd.

So if you press Alt+F then the main menu’s File menu items appear?

Dave you are not alone. I haven’t played with the keyboard settings. Cntrl tab between windows doesn’t work either, nor does alt tab between applications.

What do we have in common?

Alt Tab for application switching works for me.

The Ctrl+Tab thing doesn’t work any long because of the new UI. The various panels are not child windows so ctrl+tab doesen’t apply. Or so I read somewhere. Not the best trade-off IMO.

I wouldn’t mind ctrl+tab not working if it was possible to map keystrokes that WOULD focus the window(s). But there does not seem to be any way to do that. Just in case anybody from Adobe cares about what I think – THIS IS WRONG! FIX IT NOW!!!

Ctrl Tab is gone! It was bad enough having to cycle through windows. I’m used to Edit with a hot key for each window.

This is too much mousing around for me. I think the design team must have Macs at home.

    Oops Alt-Tab is fine.

I have the same problem. The Alt key works most of the time, but not always. This is very irritating, especially when you cant set a shortcut to Project panel, etc.

I have the very same problems with PPro 1.x and do not have the same problem with any other Adobe apps, so this is a “PPro-error-only”.

The F10 key triggers the same thing as the Alt key but when the Alt key stops working the F10 dont respond anymore. (For example, F10+W+R brings the Project panel to focus.)
