    Hey Guys,

I am getting ready to ingest some HD Cam tapes that are 1080 23.98. The final deliverable is 1080 59.97.

Basically, I am going to hook up the deck to the Kona 3 and use a AJA Gen 10 for tri-level sync. I will edit in FCP at 23.98 and then output to the desired frame rate.

Now, I have done some reading through the forums and have heard suggestions ranging from using 75 ohm terminators, to completely abandoning 23.98 and doing everything in 59.97…

Can you guys please let me know if I am using the best process here? Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

You can go either way. 23.98 means you will layoff with pulldown at the end (which you will have to account for timing wise, 23.98 ndf to 29.97 drop) and stick with a progressive workflow and progressive renders and smller file sizes.

Or, you can capture as 1080i, work in an interlaced timeline and work in a 29.97 drop timeline to meet your your broadcaster’s timing (if that’s of concern to you).
