Holiday journey through Light Meter history…
Was getting ready for a yard sale and a friend brought over an old 1960’s light meter. Not knowing it’s value I did a search. And stumbled upon the LOVELY world created and maintained by James Ollinger dedicated to early camera gear history. This particular part of his suite of sites is all about vintage light meters – and I spent WAY too much time looking at and reading about how this business USED to be done before they built metering into everything.
If you’d like a stroll down memory lane – bookmark it and maybe you’ll have some time over the holidays.
Nice work Mr. Ollinger. It’s a treasure house of where we’ve come from.

BTW, no Antiques Roadshow style luck discovering he had a Norwood Director – or Weston Master III or something prized and collectible. It was a mere Sekonic L-98 Micro Leader from the mid 70s – the kind that needs a Mercury battery that they no longer make I think.
Such is life.
