This morning I turned on my office workstation and the monitor blew up, a Sony GDM-FW900 24″ CRT. It didn’t actually explode, but there was a loud bang and a bright white flash and it is gone. Thanks Santa.

Questions are, what to do with this 100+ lb. behemouth, I can’t just throw it in the garbage. I’ve had my eye on a Sceptre 22″ LCD with every connector known to man including HDMI, which I would swap out on my FCP station and take my 19″ LCD bin monitor tho the office mafchine.

Before I spring for this model, I’m wondering if there’s any other 22″ monitors out there with HDMI in the sub $400 range?

    Anyways, have a Great Holiday!

I took my old NEC 24″ to a recycling place to be rid of it when it decided it was time to start pushing up the daisies.

I paid $20 for the priviledge. At least it’s a deduction!

Ahhh, the FW900 CRT… definitely a tried and true computer monitor in the CRT side of things. Especially the prepress world. But eh, you’ll be much happier switching over to LCDs anyway. Unless you were in fact doing prepress on it!

So I’m curious… why the important need to go HDMI? Will this mainly be used for video input or computer screen monitoring?

    Hey Marco,

On the HDMI I am just curious to see what’s up with it. Might take a look at that little HV10 camera and Intensity from BM and see what’s up with that too. (Maybe not professional but worth a look for fun) The Scepter 22″ just looks amazing for the price even without HDMI, but now I’m getting it, so we’ll see…

    Happy Holidays!

Ooopps! Make that the Sony HC3, the Canon version has no HDMI out!

Might be worth waiting for the Cinema Displays & iMacs with HDMI connectors that may be announced on the 9th.
