  • Highest Quality DVD export using FCPX and possibly Compressor

I shoot my video on a Canon 60D at 720p 30fps. I export it to MPEG2 Stream Clip and create a ProRes file at its highest settings. Then take it to FCPX. Edit it and then create a DVD. I find that the file sizes for the DVD are not that large and there is quality loss. Some of these videos when crated by Share>DVD are only say 500MB where the Master File would be much larger. How do I get the largest (High Quality Video) to DVD. I tried going into settings on the Share>DVD option but it won’t let me change anything. Should I create a master file and then take it into compressor or is there a way to do it all in FCPX?

    Thanks

I’ve always found FCPX’s DVD output to be pretty good but Final Cut’s export is very much baked in – if you need to tweak, it’s time to send it through to Compressor. And of course, you can save your Compressor settings back as an FCPX preset and use that next time.
