High or low frequency jamming on Tascam DR-05 audio recording device
Hello,
I’m new to this forum and I hope someone can help. I recently purchased a Tascam DR-05 recorder because I have an unusual problem. I’ve got a roommate who has high tech chops and thinks it’s funny to wake me up at night with knocking on the wall, banging on the door and until recently, a hidden speaker( I suspect under the rug) with his voice disguised with a robotic sound. I just bought the recorder and now he’s jamming the device with a (high frequency?) signal. I was recording on a wav. file and when I played it back there was a high, keening noise coming throughout the file. Will recording on an mpeg file stop this? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

What happens if you try recording somewhere else away from your roommate? Are you saying that you hear things upon playback that were inaudible during recording? It is unlikely that recording in MP3 will yield any different result. But only you can do this experiment under such unusual circumstances. I would separate myself from such a joker.
