HIDING after effects

did you try ‘hide’ from the application menu or the keyboard shortcut (control-command-h)?

this seems unusual… i’m not having any problems here (cs3, 4-core macpro). are any other applications open? do you have the latest update? mine says 8.0.1.8… have you tried a reboot?

For now, did you try double-clicking on the top of the app window?

Try CTRL + Apple + H (normally it is just Apple + H).

Seems to be an issue (nay, let us all shout BUG!) with many of us but not all (so it’s not a bug, rats). On my Intel Macs, AECS3 hides but only fro the After Effects menu item. The keyboard shortcut won’t do it, can’t figure out why, it’s not assigned to anything else that i can tell. AECS3 has some other issues with its many panes. Some of them grab the focus when switching applications and remain on top of the other app. But FCP and Motion do that, too. I’m guessing it has something to do with the new-fangled single-window, multiple-pane interfaces we’re being force fed.

in the interest of sniffing out problems, i have a 2x3ghz dual-core intel macpro, 4gb ram, osx 10.4.10 and ae cs3 (8.0.1.8).

i have no problems hiding the app.

i do have a problem saving a preset from the effects & presets panel. i can only save a preset from the animation menu, but only if i didn’t first try to save it from the effects panel… i then have to deselect the effects & properties and reselect them to chose the save option from the animation menu…!? actually, i can also save a preset for an individual effect from the effect controls window, but that won’t work for multiple effects…

My CS3 on a dual 2.7 G5 also won’t hide. No matter which approach I try….just won’t hide. We end up minimizing the timeline window to hide it in the dock. Hmmm, it’s beginning to sound like it might be related to how we have set up our windows because I have another G5 that hides it fine. Perhaps trying out configurations of the windows a bit more will reveal why it will not hide on my machine.
