Hide timecode on timeline?
Hi,
I’m trying to find a way to remove the master timecode bar at the top of the timeline in AVID 5.5. I know you can hide tracks by going into the fast menu, and that’s allowed me to hide the bottom TC track, but I need to hide the top TC display (the one directly under the tool bar) that shows the number of frames/seconds. I haven’t had any success in the timeline settings or the fast menu. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Gaffer tape on the monitor will do the trick just fine.But i totally agree on the ‘why’ part…

I thought as much. Had a look around the forums and couldn’t find anything similar. I’m working as an assistant on a feature and the editor likes to have a lot of space on the timeline for multiple tracks. I know you can re-size tracks but she prefers to have every track in view and doesn’t like traversing layers of audio, she just likes to point and select. I guess we’re just used to old layouts where it wasn’t a problem.
Cheers for the gaffer suggestion, but it went down like a lead balloon.

Not sure it really helps, but you can move the timecode track. I have mine between the audio and video tracks, kind of like a border between the two. Handy, as clicking in the timecode bar disables the smart tools when you need to. Might be less distracting for your editor to

Go to timeline fast menu (hamburger menu) — chose SHOW TRACK — and UNCLICK TC
Timecode along the bottom of your timeline disappears.
(I only found this out by teaching myself AVID.. I am yet another FCP refugee fleeing the dumbing down of Final Cut X) In fact you can see several ways to make your AVID environment more “Final Cut” like in this nice youtube tutorial
