Hide a mask?
Posted by Jim Dodson on January 7, 2011 at 5:45 pmI have four masks on a layer.
Is there any way to hide 3 of the masks so I can just work on the one without seeing the others?

January 7, 2011 at 6:02 pmyou can change how the masks effect the layer, but you’ll still see the actual paths.
in the mask properties there is a drop down that you could set to ‘none’ for the mask operation.
or, you could set the mask opacity property to zero.
if you need to further distinguish between paths, you can also set the color for the path by clicking the color chip for the mask (default is normally red) and choosing a new color.
there is also a preference to automatically cycle mask colors as they are created in the appearance preference.

Note how this search in After Effects Help for ‘hide masks’ pulls up the answer that John gave.
