Help with this ‘logo ripple’ tutorial
Hi!
I’m trying to make a lot of work for my showreel, so I can get my first media job, and I’ve come across a tutorial and I’d really like to replicate the final result, but I’m having trouble with it. Firstly, it’s been translated from Japanese, and secondly it’s not as detailed as I’d like, so it’s frustrating me trying to get it done.

I’ve added the wave world effect, but surely there must be more to adjusting the parameters than is stated in the tutorial? As for step 4, if someone could help with what order I should be putting my layers in (and whether they should be layers or pre-comps) and how to use caustics properly, it would be greatly appreciated!
I really like the output, and I think getting the hang of it will finally help me with the block I’ve got using wave world and caustics (as trying to get them to work together frustrates me).

I have to agree with Dave. Personally, I would not spend your time
on a look like that for your reel. There are plug ins that basically do that in 1 step. Just my opinion.It never hurts to practice things however.

I’ll give Jim Tierney’s caustics tutorial another go, and see how I get on with that one, so I can get to grips with how it should work. Hopefully that’ll sort me out!
