Help with some sold colour rollerover buttons

I’m trying to create some links similar to the ones on the left of this page:

I’ve tried playing with text background colour codes in my CSS styles but I can’t get anything to work.

Any help would be much appreciated.

hello…

best way to learn is to look at their source code – but also w/o seeing your examples and where you are stuck, it’s hard for us to offer suggestions… :-/
