  • Help with Smear Ink on a Window

    Hi Everyone,

I have a shot in which a person with black ink written words on the palms of their hands wipes them on a window. I want to get the effect of the ink being smeared onto the window.

Any thoughts on how to do this?

    Thanks,

    Eric

i think i would try a particle system with some roughed up text as the particle (maybe so roughed up that it is just a texture about the same length as the text). with velocity set to zero and the postion of the emitter/producer being animated to follow the palm (maybe track the palm), it should give you something streaky. andrew’s light streak tutorial would be a good one to look at for the process i’m thinking of, but with a much simpler emitter move.

you could even mask the particle system layer with a streaky track matte layer that you could use stock textures or just shoot your own with a digita camera for more realism.
