    Hi,
I’m doing this project for school and I really need some help with my render and material being that I’m pretty new to cinema 4d. Here is a render that I just did with no extra settings (NO caustics, GI, etc.) in the render.

I put a shiny metal material on it but I hate the way it is looking so choppy and pixelated in areas, not to mention looking pretty matte. Any guidance in getting this to look better in anyway would be really really appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Looks like you need to enable Best AA in render settings. As for the metal, it probably looks like that because it doesn’t have much to reflect. You may be better off using the material’s environment channel instead of — or in addition to — reflection.

Thanks a lot for that. I think the environment made a real difference in the material.

I’m still getting some of that pixelation and choppy edges though. I changed the AA setting to best. I put a slight hypernurbs on the object so it took care of the major problems, but I’m still not satisfied. Is there anything else you can suggest to make it better?

    Thanks again.

    Yeah, that’s definitely looking better.

I’d try bumping up AA from the default 1×4 to 2×4 and keep raising it until it looks right, because I’m pretty sure that’s the problem.
