Help with exporting

“RGB + Alpha” and “Millions of Colors +”, that’s the ticket.

In the Render Queue (Ctrl M), chose a format, like Lossless, double click on the Blue Losels(or whatever format you’ve chosen, loss is the default) and up pops the “Output Module”.

Now in the “Video Output” section, from the Channels dropdown choose, RGB + Alpha, this should change Depth (the dropdown below from Millions of Colors, to Millions of Colors+. That’s the key thing for any of the codecs (or Uncompressed here) to make sure you get the little “+” (alpha).

Even codecs that support Alpha are defaulted to the flavor without Alpha to save file size (24 bit vs 32 bit I think), so you need to select the alpha to get it. When you get a combo you like you can save the setup as a template, by clicking the dropdown where you first double clicked that “lossless” (above) and scrolling to Make Template, then save it with a name you like, “Lossless with Alpha”, then it’s a quick pick from the dropdown next time you hit the Render Que.

Popular codecs are QT Animation, and Tiff or Targa Sequences ( then if your render crashes, you can pickup from there).

Note, you can see what the transparency is like it looks in PhotoShop, in the comp window by toggling the “Toggle Transparency Grid” (the little checkerboard) at the bottom of the Comp Window.

I followed your help , however my animation still has a white background. I cant figure out what i am doing wrong.

So when i import the avi file to adobe premier it overlaps my clip and all you see is a white background with my text animation.

Hope we can figure this out.

Does Premiere have some sort of transfer mode, or transparency setting for the imported clip? Did you check the Premiere Help for “alpha”?
