Help with audio import?
I am very new to the video editing world. Can any one tell me if Premiere Pro 2.0 supports any other audio file besides wma? Also when I tried to use a song I downloaded from the web, I get a message that says Premiere Pro can’t open it because of a liscense agreement(yes I paid for it). Any one know how to get around one of those?

PPro can use many different audio formats like wav, aiff, mp3. If you got the file from iTunes you have to convert it. If you have bought the track that doesn’t mean you have legal rights to use it.
A way to convert say an mp4 audio file is to open it in QT pro and export as another format, like above.
Or you could use AE which accepts heaps of formats and convert it there.
Copyright law for music is very complicated, but unless you have written agreements from the recording studio, the song writer the singer and all those who own it – you legally don’t have permission to use it.
– check the web for a converter if you don’t have those apps. -
Thank you very much for your reply. When I browse for my music to import, my only options are for wma files. My mp3 files don’t even show up. Any idea why not?

Do WAV files show up? Are you using a free trial?

Yes. The program is on my home computer. I am currently on another computer at work.

When you choose File>Import, the “Files of Type” drop down menu at the bottom of the Import window should be set to “All Supported Files”, not .wma.
Legal issues aside (I am not a lawyer), using I Tunes songs requires using I Tunes to burn a Red Book audio CD. Then you can use Windows Media Player or whatever to “Rip” the song as a supported file…wma or wav.
The other alternative is to Play the song in I Tunes and record the playback in an app like Audition.
