help with alpha channels from Paint Shop Pro to Avid…
I have a logo that a client needs in their project, however, I can’t seem to get rid of the white background when importing. I am using Paint Shop Pro, similar to Photoshop in a watered down way. I have been able to erase the white background leaving a transparent background behind the logo. I know that I have used this technique in the past using Photoshop, but I can’t remember all the steps to getting it done. Can someone help me out or point me in the right direction??

Can you save it as a .png file? If the object is on a transparent background and you save it as a .png, you don’t have to worry about adding the alpha channel in Paintshop Pro…the Avid will recognize the transparency as the alpha, or something like that. It works, that much I know. How exactly, couldn’t tell you. Just remember to change your import settings to Invert Existing Alpha (or something worded similarly to that…I’m not in front of the system right now).
If you can’t save it as a .png, I can’t help you. Never used Paintshop Pro. If it’s like Photoshop, however, just select your graphic (in Photoshop it’s Load Selection or Ctrl+Click your Layer), go to the alpha channels, choose Add Channel or the Paintshop Pro equivalent and save.
