  • HELP! Syncing Audio and Video on Xpress Pro

Hi, I’m an assistant editor on my first project and I’ve have a rather big problem. The show that I’m working on, they have decided NOT to record audio on the HD camera tapes, and now they want me to sync the audio using the back up DVD-RAM to the video. Now I know how to do it in Final Cut Pro, but I can’t seem to achieve the same result in the Avid Xpress Pro. I need to sync the audio to the video clips, so that the editor can cut the scenes together.

Is there a way that I can sync the audio to the video clips AND make them a “new source clip” in the bin with audio instead of just syncing them in the sequence?

Any help is greatly appreciated as I’m down to the wire and I need to sync these clips ASAP!

    Thanks in Advance!

It’s called AutoSync – if there is no common timecode anywhere, it can be done manually.

    1. Mark in at clap on video only clip
    2. Mark in at clap waveform on audio only clip

Bin menu – AutoSync – check based on IN and click OK

You can then slip by 1/4 frame fro tighter sync if in 35mm project.

The user guide or online help should have a good description on that – do a search on AutoSync.
