  • HELP!!! Sony HDR-SR12 HD video recorder

Posted by Nolan Weis on February 14, 2009 at 12:48 am

I have recently filmed a project with 2 cameras, one is a mini dv camera, and one is a sony HDR-SR12 HD video hard drive camera. I was wondering if anyone knew how to get the hd camera shots onto Adobe Premier pro CS3. I can get the mini dv onto the computer, but not the hard drive camera.

I was also wondering if anyone had any info or recommendations on a dvd ripper to get adobe projects that are on a dvd back onto adobe premiere.

Hey mate, I assume your sony uses the same as my SR7 and films in AVCHD

With CS3, you will have to download a plugin – I use the Mainconcept Mpeg Pro – in order for APP to be able to recognize and import the .mts files. There are stored on the Camera’s HD under AVCHD -> BDMV ->”Stream”, or at least on mine.

I found however that it is VERY sluggish to do so.

Alternately, you can upgrade to CS4, or numerous users suggest importing the file in Sony Vegas, and then exporting as HDV so you can edit in APP.

If you do with the pluggin route –
After you have installed the plugin
Instead of using the “capture function”, use the import function as you would for a regular photo, other file.

    Hope this helps
