I have after effects cs3, have for over a year, recently it is now crashing all the time, (during rendering) I can only render 4 seconds of video at a time and even then it crashes when its done.

I think i probably need to repair or re-install it or something, I have the entire cs3 master collection though and it took hours to install and I really don’t want to re-install the whole suite…is there a way I can repair/reinstall just this app?

    Thanks!!

You should be able to select which app from the package you want to repair/re-install..you can with the Windows version of Production Premium anyway.

    AE7 Pro – Nucleo – Mocha v1.2.0 – PS CS3 – FCP 5.1.4
    MacPro Quad 3GHz / ATI 1900XT / 8GB RAM / OSX 10.4.11
    30″ ACD / Wacom Intuos 3 A4 / XServe RAID
    ———————————
    Production Studio CS2 – Combustion 3 – Mocha v1.0.1
    Win XP Pro 32 / Intel Core2Quad Q6600 / 2GB RAM / NVidia Quadro570 / DeckLink Pro / Roland DS-5s / Sony BVM-20G1E / 2 x Dell 2007FP / Wacom Intuos 3 A4 / 320GB boot/800GB RAID-0

Please let us know how you make out.
Reinstalling is usually the last thing to try, not the first.
On a Mac, we’d start by trying to figure out if it’s your comp, your project, some bad media, a bad third party plugin, or some obscure codec issue.

None of those are solved by reinstalling the application.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Yeah, definitely try EVERYTHING else you can think of first!

We had some really puzzling crashes a few months ago…turns out CC plugins don’t like AE7 on an Intel Machine.
