HELP PLEASE about Field Render (upper or lower filds first)???
Upper field first, Lower field first or off field ???
A have a big problem, please help?
maybe I sound like a beginner but:
In my composition I have a video file with Matrox DVCAM compression i think it’s in off fields
when i import this video in AE and make some changes or colour correction I must export the video in
MATROX DV CAM compression with LOWER FIELD FIRST to have nice end smooth video when i import that video in adobe premiere and preview on monitor.(why???)
But if I do some animation in AE then I must set the render settings UPPER FIELDS FIRST(Why ???)
Now I have a problem with one commercial, and I need a solution soon.
in my composition I have a video file(PAL 720X576 – 25 fps) with some animation in After effects,
If I export the composition with Lower fields first then the rendered video will flicker(The video file which is in composition is smooth, but the animation flickers)
Or If I export the video file in Upper Field first then the animation is smooth but the video file flickers.
With off fields, the whole video flickers (when i import that video in adobe premiere and preview on monitor).I work with matrox RTX 100
25 fps, video pal – 720 X 576Please help!!!!!

Matrox DV .. aah. PAL is normally upper field first – all formats except the DV family, which for whatever reason is lower field first for PAL (as well as NTSC – a compatibility choice?)
BUT Matrox (correctly) decided that this changed field order for DV (DVCAM, DVCPRo) footage in PAL could create problems.
So Matrox opted with the RTX 100 for their own variant of DV, with upper field first – a decision which introduces its own problems.
You need to choose and keep to a single variant of DV within your projects – if you use the RTX 100 you will want Matrox DV codec, which is upper field first for PAL ….
But it won’t place nice on standard firewire or other DV projects without the Matrox hardware ….
