    Hello,

This is what I am trying to do. I have a video that was ripped from a commercial DVD and sent to me. I want to put a menu and markers on it and burn it back onto DVD. The AVI file I have is 717KB, 1:46 duration, 576 x 320. If I use something like DVD Santa to burn it to DVD (which renders it to a VOB file first), it looks great when I play it in my DVD player, but no menu/markers. When I put the clip into Premiere, add a menu and the markers and burn it, and then try to play it on my DVD player, the image on my TV is about half size with a lot of jaggies and the audio doesn’t see to sync with the video 100%. For export settings I ues NTSC DV 16:9 High Quality 4Mb VBR 2 Pass Preset setting. The Video Codec that is indicated on the Video tab, which appears to be the only one there, is MainConcept MPEG Video. The Quality slider is set at 5.0. I would appreciate any insight to the problem and suggestions how to cure it. Thank you.

    [Harry1956] “I have is 717KB”

Are you sure that this is correct? Also, Premiere Elements may be a better choice for you. Premiere Pro does not support highly compressed formats.

It’s strange that the ripped file was an odd raster(576×320). Seems like a small 16:9 piece of video. Is that right? In that case your real problem is you need to up-rez or up-raster it to 720×480 in order to work with it in Premier. Premier will do this. Use the effects controls window to change the SCALE of the video until it fills the screen. Then you will have to decide if you want to output an anamorphic widescreen movie or a letter boxed movie in a regular 4:3 screen. Either way do a small test to see your results. If the quality still seems bad you must go back to the original DVD and RE-RIP to get a larger image preferably 720×480! Good luck.

I would still recommend using Premiere Elements, as it supports DVD import.
