    Hi there,

I’m a first time poster so please be gentle, I bruise like a peach.

my all 2 eager producer would like to edit on his laptop so I need to find out a way to take my sequence from my desktop final cut to his laptop. Copying only the media referenced in the sequence to an external drive, without altering the original media, so he can cut away and when he is done I can copy his new sequence back to my desktop open it up and have it reference the orginal media on my drives. Is this possible? Thanks for any help you can give.

You can do this using the Media Manager tool in FCP. It will give you an option to move or copy media to a new location, and create a new project referencing it.

A simple reconnect on the way back should do the trick, or do a transfer via EDL / XML.

Thanks. When bring the project back onto the desktop and relinking I get a error msg telling me that the clip does not match the start and end times needed. I suppose I can just ignore this message as its trying to reference the shorter media managed clips I exported to the external drive……is this right?
