  • HELP: Need Good Particle FX plug in for AE

Posted by Eric Goldstein on January 17, 2006 at 8:28 pm

    Help,

I’ve been searching for a particle effects plug in for AE for fire, explosions, clouds, fog and water. I haven’t found anything that was realistic or controllable enough.

    Does anyone have any recommendations.

    Thanks,

Check out Trapcode’s particular and also wondertouch particleIllusion – while the latter is not a plugon for AE, it works well with it. Plus it comes with 1300 preset effects (Fire, smoke, water, sparkles…etc.) out of the box, and is easy to customize.

And PI will be releasing an AE plugin soon. So get to know it, and soon you won’t even have to leave AE to use it.

Thanks for the help. Any idea when PI will bring out their AE plug in?

    Thanks Andrew and Aharon,

Aharon, I read your tutorial for working between PI and AE. Can you use tracking information in the same way to
animate something generated in PI? Also, do you use the Import file capability in PI to help designing your animations?

    Thanks,

    Eric

By import file, you mean BG, right? Yeah often. I always render out of AE as a final, but I do bring compressed video in as my BG for reference.

You can use tracking, since it uses XY position data. Just copy the keyframes and then import them into AE.

I’m not into the hard sell, but I have a particleIllusion/AE training DVD that answers a lot of the questions about using them together. You can find more info in the link below my name. Take it easy,

    Aharon
