  • HELP!! My Canon XL2 24p and Final Cut are driving me crazy!!!!

I shot some footage on my Canon XL2 using 24p with “normal” 2:3 pulldown.

In Final Cut Pro, I went through and logged my tape with no problems – timecode was fine, I set my ins & outs, logged clips, and device control worked perfectly. This is why I dont think the tape is bad.

However, when I attempt to actually capture my footage, only 2 or 3 seconds after a clip has begun capturing, the image will freeze in the desktop preview as it plays normally on my camera. this happens repeatedly throughout the clip. I end up with a captured clip where the image will freeze and suddenly jerk back to normal, then repeat the process over and over.

I looked up all sorts of stuff on the internet and cant find anyone who’s had this precise problem. I dont think its my capture settings, because I have used the standard NTSC settings as I understand I’m supposed to do when I filmed with normal pulldown. I even tried using the 23.98p setup just to try it, but that doesnt work either.

Anyone out there who has had this issue and hopefully resolved it?

Did you ever have any luck figuring this out? I’ve got EXACTLY the same problem…
