  • HELP!!! Mpeg file won’t import into Premiere Pro or After Effects 6.0

Posted by Jeff Young on January 13, 2007 at 10:48 pm

Trying to import an mpg file into either Premiere Pro or After Effects 6.0. When I try this it freezes up either program.

Need to be able to export it to play on a videoboard.

Any thoughts? I know it’s a rookie question but I desperate.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

Any version of Ppro except ver 2.x doesn’t like Mpeg2 files, Mpeg1 will work with quicktime 5 or higher installed, likewise with AFX 6.x, AFX 7/Ppro 2 will handle mpeg2 files with QT installed, information on file types for import and export is advailable in the instruction manual that came with your software.

Premiere Elements 3 can handle Mpeg files much better.
