I searched the ‘Common asked Question’ and could not find a similar issue, if I missed it I apologize.

I am have a tough time getting a really solid motion track. When ever I try my motion track will dance off point (not wildly, only about 3px through out the comp) I’ve tried a couple different video files to try it on but I get the same result. I have position and rotation both selected, No movement interferes with the points, I’ve tried all 3 Tracking Channels. Am I missing something? Please help I would like to get this feature down.
    Thanks in advance.

I’m having the same trouble but with the stabilize feature. The tracker isn’t as accurate as it could be, even with a very contrasty selection point, strong perpediculars, and differing sizes of object selection and search areas.

I think Dave could be right. It’s the interlacing that’s causing the 1 or 2 pixel shift, which translates to a nasty jitter when applied to the whole picture.

I’ll have a bit of a play round over the next couple of days and see if that’s the problem.

I’m using PAL footage, and so far, all the information available on the web – tutorials etc, are probably using NTSC, so I wonder if there’s a clue there.

If there’s no way of getting a better track, I thought perhaps you could delete say, every 4th key frame and apply easy ease. It would decrease accuracy but at least that the track would appear less jittery.

    Anyone with any other suggestions?

    Cheers,

    Thanks.

Maybe. I’ve tried different sizes, but generally I was going smaller. I’ll give some larger targets a go.
