  • Help in exporting animation from Afx into Final cut pro.

    Hello,

    Hello this is something ive been difficulties over quite a while.

    Im making a video. I need some animations over parts of the edit. I make animations in after effects.
    What i want to do is export the animation with alpha and drop it over de editparts in FCP
    But the result is pretty bad. The animation look terrible. Bad quality. Like iff it was scaled. Pixels on the outside of the animations.

    What i did before is export the part where i want this animation over. Import it in Afx, put the animation over it and render it out as Best, no codec. This is ok, but it takes a lot of time to render it and when i client wants some changes, i need to do this proces again and again.

    Now i have this;
    My Masteredit in Final Cut pro:
    Settings:
    720*576 CCIR DV PAL(5/4)
    Lower Field
    Anamorpic
    Compressor DV-PAL

    Settings in After effect:
    Comp 720*579 widescreen DV PAL

    Output(render):
    I set it:
    Best Quality Quicktime
    Color Straight
    Millions of colors RGB+Alpha
    None Codec(tryed animation, but the result is the same)

    What im a doing wrong here.
    Is the problem in after Effects or Final cut pro?
    The pal compressor maby?

    Using Quad core Intel Mac, 2 gigs

    Help me
    Thanks
    T.

    Peace

    ARE you scaling it? You mentined BEST which is one part of the export setting in After effects but you also need to choose FULL which determines exactly what you’re talking about. The resolution. Otherwise it is rendered at a lower rez and scaled up.

    You should be using the Animation codec, Millions+, Straight alpha matte.

    I don’t know about the whole PAL thing and widescreen, but seems like you should be working in a setting that exactly mathces your sequence. If you’re working in anamorphic 720×576 then you should work in anamorphic 720×576 but perhaps your widescreen setting is correct. I don’t do PAL or widescreen.

    [Mister T.] “720*576 CCIR DV PAL(5/4)

    Your frame sizes should match for a start – if you’re working in FC at 720×576 FHA then you should be rendering from AE at 720×576 FHA. Are you rendering fields from AE? They should also match up.

    [Mister T.] “Pixels on the outside of the animations.”
    Can you explain this better?

    Hello,

    What mean is that i see pixels around the objects.
    For example;
    A circle has pixels around them.

    Thanks

    Peace

    I’m afraid I’ve never seen behavior like this…
