Help importing P2 Footage
Hello all,
sorry if this is a basic question, but I am more of an Avid user. I have some footage shot on a HVX-200 on P2 cards, and I can’t get it into FCP. I am on a Macbook Pro (about 2 years old) running leopard, and Final Cut Pro 6. If I choose log and capture I can control a clip from the camera, but it won’t show the video or audio (preview disabled is displayed). Sometimes if I hit video scopes, the picture will then show, but if I hit capture, the little capture window pops up quick and then goes away.If I choose log and transfer (which I think would be better in this case) I don’t get anything coming up. The camera is connected via firewire 400 cable. The camera doesn’t show up on my desktop to even see the P2 cards as storage to copy over.
I have re-started both the cpu and programs multiple times. Any ideas where I am going wrong?

you need to be in log and transfer when dealing with P2 material.

ok, but when I am in Log and Transfer, how do I see my clips? I have the camera in VTR mode where I can see all the thumbnails on the screen, but nothing shows up in FCP, and I can’t navigate to the camera anywhere on my computer.
Where do I go from here?

I got it! I don’t have the camera manual with me so it was harder to figure this out, but it was just a matter of holding the button on the back of the camera to with from VTR mode to 1394 connect mode, then it worked like a charm.
