  • HELP HELP HELLP Copy/Moving files

I think I need to clarify my earlier question, I have a project on 5 external hard drives. I need to move them all onto one 1tb drive. I tried using media manager COPY, but all I had were red slashes through my clips in the bin. What did I do wrong? Also if I use MOVE in Media manager can I lose my data altogether? Can I “UNDO” if I get the red slashes? As always, thanks in advance.

Every time you move any type of media file out of its original file path, that movement is registered in the bin and timeline with the red slash.

For example, if you move a Quicktime Movie File named “Cutaways” out of the following file path:

    PowerBook G4 > External Drive 500gb > Project Folder > Project A >
    Capture Scratch Folder > “Cutaways”

…..you must reconnect that file through its new path, in this case, to the newly chosen/different external hard drive.

Not until you reconnect any and all media files that have been moved from the original path to their new path(s) will the red slashes be removed.

    Use the “Reconnect Media” procedure.
