You simply plug a FireWire into a VHS recorder and play it from the timeline. Then you’d capture from that tape and do it all again. Not sure how much effect you will get, think it would depend on the machine, there are much more predictable ways of making footage funky, but have a go.

    Have a wonderful day.

Oh yeah, I meant to say with an A-D converter in between.

    Have a wonderful day.

Actually, JVC used to make one… the JVC SR-VS30 (ok it’s really S-VHS) 😉

    Thanks guys,

But because this seems to be quite a process any suggestions on replicating the aged
effect with filters or plug-ins? (with either AE or FCP)

    Best,
    Addison

[Steve Eisen] “The Firewire was used for DV not VHS on that deck “

I’ve never used one, so you may be right. But in the info specs they claim that “An i.LINK connection to a VHS VCR, only enables video and audio transmission. The VHS VCR cannot be controlled from the PC.” So at least it seems like you could use the firewire to output/capture uncontrolled.
