HELP! Finshed video plays fine in Vagas but blank everywhere else!
Posted by Ren Adams on March 21, 2009 at 12:48 pmI’ve a 1.26 min long piece of footage that, after adding FX, splitting and rearranging saving and rendering, plays absolutly fine in Vegas.
However, regardless of if I convert it to avi,.mov,mp4 in any video converter(which Ive had no problems with before) it refuses to play sound and simply flashes up the first 1 second of footage and plays the rest in black blank silence.
????
I’m pretty sure I’ve not done anything different to this project than others and never had this frustrating problem before.

March 21, 2009 at 3:47 pmIt sounds like you have a small section of it highlighted.
When you render, Render loop region is selected and this will give the result you’re experiencing.
Deselect this render option and you’ll see the entire clip. -

March 21, 2009 at 6:08 pmAh… it seems so.
Unfortunetly, when I went to try this, all except the first frame are shown in blank black frames.
:/ Is it lost for good?BTW Thanks for your advice

March 21, 2009 at 7:04 pmAs long as you can see your video on the Preview window, it’s not “lost for good”.
You did make sure you can see the entire video, right?
You’ve played it through from beginning to end and it’s all there?
I’m just trying to rule out a misplaced keyframe in an FX somewhere.
We just have to figure out why it’s not doing what it’s supposed to do. -

March 21, 2009 at 7:10 pmHello again
Well, it was all there before, and played perfectly all the way through with no problems.
Didn’t realise it was (possibly) renered incorrectly at first as it took quite a while – apx 12mins to render 1.25 mins of footage – but then once l uploaded it to you tube only one frame was visable, and the rest- audio and visual- had gone.
I then shut down vegas.
When I returned to it (after getting your first post)now, even in Vegas, it is silent and blank.
I still have the raw footage, but the (saved prior to rendering) 1st edit has now gone walkies also. -

FYI
When I first had the trouble with the blankness on youtube, I tried to post it to acidplanet directly from Vegas.
This had a slightly different outcome.
In acidplanet the footage would start blank, play a little in the middle, with sound, then return to the blank silent movie.

March 21, 2009 at 7:19 pmIf I understand you correctly, when you now try to open the file, it comes up blank?
What happens when you open the veg file?
You did save it, right? -
Ren Adams
March 21, 2009 at 7:32 pmlol.. yes I did save it- I always save my projects at regular intervals, although when I’m happy and finished, I’ll delete any needless copies bar the raw footage.
Yes, you understand correctly- NOW in vegas it shows the very first frame then plays the rest, in the correct time frame, as silent and blank.
Guess I’ll just have to start again from the raw footage.
Thanks for the help, though x

March 21, 2009 at 7:38 pmBefore you do that, go through and check every single FX as well as every place that there could be an FX (specifically the track header and preview window locations) in your project as I’m sure there’s a stray keyframe somewhere that you’ve missed.
