    Hello everybody,

I’d like to know if someone already had this problem:

I’m working on a G5 dual 2.0, with FCP 5.0.2 and OS X.4.2, and since I turned it on today, I don’t get to make a conection between the deck and the final cut. I tried changing decks, changed the firewire cable, changed the G5 output, I re-installed Final Cut,… and the program always says “the video device is missing”.

In the “audio/video settings”, the option 720 x 480 NTSC doens’t appear for me to choose in the “video playback”, even with the deck turned on and plugged into the computer.

In the “log and capture” window it says that the VTR is OK, I get to command the deck, pressing “play”, “pause”, “ff” and “rew”, the timecode of the tape appears and plays in the window, but the image doesn’t appear, nor the audio in the “VU”.

I would like to know if someone already had this problem, if it was discussed here, and how it was solved.

Very thankfull for all, Rodrigo Savastano

Try setting easy set up to DV NTSC. Then quiting out of FCP. Restart FCP and see if that works.

I presume your deck is a DVCAM deck, if it is it may be set to s-video or composite rather than DV…I have had that problem and that solved it…

In the afternoon, I had tried the DV NTSC in Easy Setup and changed the deck to a camera too

and none of both is dvcam…

The log and capture commands the tape, the timecode functions, but the image and sound doesn’t
appear. In the audio/video settings it doesn’t show the 720×480 option in video playback tab.

I just don’t understand what is happening, i never saw this thing before !!!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

    Rodrigo.

Have you trashed your prefs? If so it sounds like something is miising (software wise) in your system. You could try a fresh install of FCP?

    Yes, I’ve reinstalled too.

An apple technician said that it could be something with the updates I downloaded in a PC, including a FCP 5.0.2 update, but I thing It’s strange, and he didn’t tell me what can I do about it beyond do the software update.

Do you know something about it???

PS: The I movie captures well, so it’s really a final cut problem.

    Rodrigo.
