Hello, I work for a media lab that does alot of support for students. They come in and use a multitude of programs including Logic, Garage Band, Soundtrack, Soundstudio, and Reason. The past semester we have had horrible luck with audio boxes. First we tried the Focusrite Saffire it seemed to work for a while but later down the road wouldn’t support phantom powered mics. Then we got the Tascam US-122L cause we had great success with the US-122 but when ever we change the driver from internal audio or tascam box it clams up and wont accept an input signal to a the programs. This includes midi. It usually takes a restart to fix this. Which is unacceptable in the work flow we have. Tech support has been less than helpful with both of these companies so i figured i would come here to see if anyone had a solution or a suggestion for a good firewire/usb audio interface box that works well with G5 Macintosh computers.

    Thank you
    Scott Barnes

I’d suggest Presonus Firebox. True plug and play with core audio,
and it sounds better than the Focusrite or Tascam.
