  • HELP!! capturing PAL video –and audio is not in sync

Posted by Patrick Weishampel on August 15, 2007 at 5:00 am

I’m trying to capture PAL SD video in FCP 5.1.4 and although the audio is in sync on playback both in the PAL camera and in FCP’s preveiw window, the captured video’s audio is completely out of sync. I’ve tried all the PAL settings, uncontrolable device, capture now and everytime it’s out of sync. Does anyone know the answer???? I’m pulling my hair out over here.

    Thanks in advance,

    Patrick

Check the recording bit depth on the tape from the camera/deck you’re using. If it’s 12 bit, then set the capture preset to 32kHz 16 bit… sounds like this is the problem.

Thanks Jerry, where do I find the 32khz 16 bit settings in fcp–there are many there but not that one specifically.

    Thanks again , patrick

in the A/V settings’ Capture preset tab, Select the one you’re using now, and duplicate it, then modify it accordingly.
