  • Help… Cant install FCP 4.5 after deleting FCP 5…

Posted by Josh Evans on September 28, 2005 at 2:38 pm

I brought home a project from work which is still on FCP 4.5 . I deleted my FCP 5 and am trying to reinstall 4.5 so it will be compatible with the files from work. but when i try to install i keep getting the message “You cannot continue. There is nothing to install.”

    WTF is going on?

You can’t just delete the FCP application. There are many other files that went with it, like Application Support files, Receipts, etc. that are scattered about in various directories. You might consider creating a separate boot drive with other FCP version on it.

Here is text of a support doc no longer on the apple site, that pertains to uninstalling FCP HD 4.5, but might be of use (at your own risk).
