Help! Can’t convert HDV to SD!
I am using Adobe Premiere Elements 4.
I have a completely edited, 1 hour long presentation in HDV format in an HDV timeline (1440×1080 and 1.33 px ratio).
I just found out that the computer I’m working on doesn’t have HD dvd burning capabilites so I need to burn a SD dvd.
I need to export the hour long presentation in a sd format so I can load it into a dvd authoring program and create a custom DVD menu before burning it.The problem is that I’ve exported tons of 20 second clips in different formats and aspect ratios to try to get my HDV footage down to SD and still look good, but it looks terrible. I’ve tried exporting 1440×1080 and scaling it down in a sd timeline but it looks muddy. I’ve tried 1920×1080 and scale down and it looks muddy. I’ve tried 768×432 with no scaling and it looks bad. I’ve tried 672×370 and it looks bad. I’ve tried using avi, quicktime. Codecs: h264, mpeg4, jpeg2000, dv ntsc, uncompressed, component and probably a few others.
The only one that looks perfect is uncompressed AVI at the original settings but the file size for a 29 second clip was 4gb, and i don’t have 500gb of disk space to create such a file.
If anyone can save me I’d be incredibly happy.
Thanks,– Jim
