May 15, 2005 at 11:36 amHi all,
Was just working on a composition when my machine unexpectedly hung (blue screen). After restart I tried to open the .aep and recieved the following error :-
After effects error : missing data in file
(33::4)Any ideas how I might recover all or part of the data from this file ? I saved it about 1 minute before the crash. It’s still 6.91mb. I’ve spent alot of time working on this project. Has anyone got any idea ???
Cheers,
Andy

May 15, 2005 at 11:51 amSometimes it helps to import the corrupted file into a new empty project.
Apart from that, there’s an Increment and Save function in AE 6.5. It seems like a good time to start using it.

May 15, 2005 at 12:18 pmThanks Bar3nd, but importing didn’t work either… Also, I usually always increment save, just not recent enough this time !!
I’m so annoyed as there was alot of new expression setups I had been experimenting with. I’m hoping there might be some way of even opening the .aep in a text editor or something and recover part of the file at least…. although guess i’m dreaming… I need a beer now…
Cheers,
Andy

May 16, 2005 at 6:20 amjust wondering, are you running Tiger? (if so, Clean Install, Upgrade, ?)
I have the same problem with a big project and get that error too. I resorted to starting from scratch due to a time crunch.
