  • HELP! – Blurry Image

    Hello,

I’m trying to put together a video involving 4 still images (original artwork).

Many of the colors used in the art are extremely bright, basically neon. I know they’re not broadcast safe. However, when I create a DVD parts of the image are very blurry. Is this a common side effect of extreme colors?

It’s just two specific regions that are blurry. Some other parts of the image show some bad color blending, but it’s the blurriness that’s confusing me.

Any advice or help on this?

    Thanks in advance!!!

I figured it had to be the colors….I tried using the broadcast safe filter in AE but it still wasn’t working. I’ll give that plug-in a try. Thanks!

Yeah, it’s strange….I got the software and everything seems to fall within range with the image that’s giving me trouble. It’s really only one very specific region of the image that is completely blurred out. The rest of it looks alright.

Wish I could show you a pic of what I see….because I have no explanation! Thanks for all your help though!

If you are using the Professional version of AE then the install disk has a third party program called “Color Finesse.” It is also available as a stand alone application. This free bundled program has great scopes… waveform, vector…, histogram, and RGB parade. You can use this within AE to tame down those colors. Also, are you bringing this animation into a nonlinear editor? If so, many, or at least Avid Media Composer and Final Cut Pro, have safe color limiters that can further aid in your not breaking the almighty law of color safety. -Justin
