hello guys, i need some help..

i’m working on some .mp4 files, weird thing is,

on my laptop (vista home premium, xp codec pack installed) when i import the mp4 files on vegas pro 9, it has both video and audio track on it.. then when i import the same video file on my desktop (vista ultimate, xp codec pack and vista codec pack installed), it only has video on it, but when i play the file on vlc or wmp or qt, it has both audio and video..

then i tried the same file on my friend’s laptop (windows 7 rc, windows 7 codec pack installed), audio and video works in vegas pro…i cant figure out whats causing this..

can’t give a specific solution or hint on the actual problem but

    – is it vital that the audio track is in mp4 format?

if not, then (for the time being) consider to change the format by using a converter tool, such as Bink and Smacker/ RAD video tools and convert to .wav -> .mp3…

    Thanks

i removed the previously installed codec pack..then installed the FFMpeg codec on the pc..audio track on mp4 file still wont show on vegas, only the video track..

tried another codec pack, the one named codec pack (advance) from cnet, still the same..audio track absent in vegas but mp4 plays video and audio in vlc/wmp/qt…

    =(

    hi sir,

still nothing..i even uninstalled/reinstalled vegas… mp4 codec is enabled in libavcodec…but still nothing..

i then downloaded gspot..and compared the results from the problematic pc with that of my laptop.. my laptop says its only missing an ac3filter..but everything seems to be playing fine from what i notice…

on the other hand, here are the results from the desktop:
