[Help] Arggh exporting/rendering out from Premiere 2.0
I am desperately trying to render out a TV commercial for standard NTSC.
Basically I am just rendering it to a .avi file and also a quicktime .mov, dropping it onto a DVD and handing it off the TV stations.The Problem:
It’s rendering out fine except when I play it back on a TV ….except it has black bars vertically on the sides in both formats. Similar to what letterboxing looks like, just vertical.Could you experts share with me what export settings you are using for standard NTSC? I’m kinda baffled by all the settings. 🙁

Further clairfication (shame there’s no edit function on the boards):
I selected DV NTSC 48khz when I created this project.

Just use the same settings as your project, if you are editing in DV-AVI. Should not be any black bars, unless you are using 640×480 video, such as not DV.

Odd.
So how should I effectively change this? It appears to be rendering out at 4×3. In the preview window it goes right to edge, no black bars. (720×480 is greyed out).
This really has me baffled. At first I thought it was the 1.0 or .9 pixel aspect but after rendering it out, there was no change between the two.Thanks for any info. 🙂

What are you outputting to…FW deck? Out some analog card?
Also, just for clarification, your project settings are PPro DV…4:3, .9 pixel aspect, 48kHz?

Hi thanks for your response.
I’m just outputting to a straight DV/AVI file and .mov file. No deck. No tape. I drop the files onto a disc.
I’m using my NVIDIA 7800GT card.
It’s just a couple of Max .avis some sound files and some type.

How are you going to DVD? Are you using it as a raw data storage unit or are you creating an actual video DVD for use with a set-top player, etc.

The problem is before I get to DVD, it happens after I render it. Like I said I am just rendering to an AVI and MOV file formats.

A couple of things:
a) Download and install an applicaton called G-Spot
b) Open your source file in G-Spot and post the properties here.
c) Open your output file in G-Spot and post the properties here.

So where are you seeing the bars? On the computer screen? Are you playing it out to a video monitor? Are you looking at it in Windows Media Player?
