    How’s it going guys?

Well, I have a problem with AE 7 not opening on my MacBook Pro. I was able to play with it for about a week, then all of a sudden it did not want to open (Errors out and says to re-open or send problem to Apple). I have re-installed it twice now. Also deleted any plugins I added.

    Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help guys. I am still working on AE on my PPC, but it would be nice to get the laptop running again with AE.

make sure you are running the latest version… 7.01 i think.

first, are you opening ae from the application or by opening a project? try opening ae from the application icon (or dock, etc). sometimes if you open a bad project, or a project that tries to load a bad effect that can cause the crash, but ae itself may be ok.

second, go into the the library>quicktime folder and pull all of the components out (don’t throw them away, just move them out). do the same for the users>[username]>library>quicktime. don’t touch the system>library>quicktime folder. this will remove any third party codecs that may cause problems. if it works, add a few components back at a time, until you find the one that’s bad. delete it and see if you can download a newer version that will work.

remove the ae prefs from the users>[name]>library>prefs folder… its somewhere in an adobe folder in the prefs folder.

I Appreciate that Kevin. I did throw away the Preferences for AE…but I forgot about the quicktime plugins (THEY WERE THE CULPRIT!!!) I had downloaded a WMV plugin that just doesnt like any of my editing software (AE, FCP,…so on)

    THANK YOU AGAIN.

    Take Care
