Help! AE audio sync issues upon render

Is there any other option within AE that I can use to test this without going to QT Pro? I know it’s only $35, but it seems that since I already paid for the CS3 there should be an alternative.

I’m actually a pc. I don’t have QT Pro, unfortunately.

I haven’t tried the test you suggested yet, but I did want to ask you one more thing. I sent the rendered file to my friend. He had the same syncing issues with the rendered file. What are the odds that two different computers had the same result, if, as you say, the syncing issue is due to the deficiencies in my hardware?

I just tried the test, and it didn’t seem to help. I tried it with comps at 1/2, then 1/3 of the original size, per your suggestion. Any thoughts? Is there something in the render settings that I should be double or triple checking?

Is this the time when I start having to mess with the footage itself, despite AE’s RAM preview telling me everything’s ok? I was hoping to avoid that….

Converting the HD footage is not an option for me at this point. I was thinking if anything I would try the positioning of the footage in the clip to see if I could offset things. I’m just too far along and don’t want to give up on this work.

Hi Dave,

I do get it. Thanks. I wasn’t writing this as a way of down playing the value of your advice, I was letting you know the nature of my situation in the hopes that there was another option. Clearly there wasn’t one (or one that you knew of), so, yes, I was opening it up for others to lend a hand.

In terms of my project, I am not using any of the audio native to the footage. It will be entirely music and sound FX, so that’s why I decided to try off setting the footage in AE and taking it from there. This worked, fortunately. I also tried uploading the “non-sync’d” original to the web, and it played spot on. So it looks like I will have two versions, one off set to play on cpu’s and the original to upload.

Yes, thanks, again Dave for the clarification. However, my point was that I wanted to retain all the video I was using. When you pointed out what I would need to do for that, I opted to do some trimming here and there instead. I wanted to know if there was anything I was missing in terms of settings, tests, etc. When I found out I was not, I decided to use this option as a last resort.

Can i just say i have exactly . the same issue. Even when rendering to MP4 quick time on a small scale- It’s all fine in preview but off by a few frames when rendered. Did you ever solve it – Is it a latency problem/ or QT problem?

Dave La Ronde’s post was correct. The issue was my hard drives. I rendered and posted to some video sites and authored some DVD’s and everything was right on queue. While it’s a bit of a process, it will really eliminate a lot of trial and error.
