    Hello,
I’ve been struggling with a sound issue in FCP that I wondered if was a known issue before I go trashing prefs and reinstalling.

Simply, the sound when I’m using external video (firewire to a DSR-11 deck) is heavily distorted — barely perceivable as derived from the original source. Scared the crap out of me first time I heard it frankly; sound like Megatron on overdrive. The audio also makes a loud chirp whenever I switch from final cut another app and the external vidoe feed is cut.

Audio when external video is off is perfectly fine out of line out, and I found that when I fed signal with the Simple Video Out app to the deck it was just fine; so I think that rules out the system or hardware.

Also odd is that I had this issue, and then the release of 6.0.3 seemingly resolved it, and now it’s back.

I’m on a January 2008 PowerMac. Thanks very much for any insight or suggestions!

    -Dave
