Headphone volume very low out of Mackie 802VLZ4
Hello all.
This may be a very basic question but I’m a video editor not an audio professional so please bear with me!
For years I’ve been monitoring audio from Premiere/Avid/Resolve via a Blackmagic card out into the Mackie mixer and then out to two studio monitors with no issues. However I’ve just bought some headphones (Beyer DT770) that I can’t seem to get working properly using the headphone output of the mixer.
There’s an extremely low and distorted output that’s just about audible if I turn the volume on the headphone dial right up.
The level gets much better and slightly cleaner if I solo my two input channels, but in doing that it ignores any left/right panning and I also get an irritating ‘rude solo’ light flashing up on the mixer.Any suggestions?
I’m sure I’ve not provided all of the information necessary to find a solution so please tell me what you need to know (ideally in fairly simple terms) and I’ll do my best to answer.
Thanks so much!
