HDX900 in extreme heat
Just wrapped up shooting in Mali, West Africa on a 21 day non-stop shoot. Very pleased to report that the HDX900 held up very well despite it being 105 degrees (42C) in the shade every single day!
Its a super dusty environment so I had a sandy coloured cloth camera cover made using the Portabrace rain cover as a go by which stopped some of the dust and most of the direct sun from hitting the body. The cover did trap some heat inside so I would open the back end from time to time to give it a breather.
The camera handle did get super hot to the touch, the thermometer would hover around 114 degrees when laid on top of the camera. But I am glad to say that the camera appears to have lived to tell the tale.
