    Hey there,

I recently worked on a shoot that shot DVCPRO HD 1080pA24 to Firestore with tape backup. In downloading the footage using FCP 6.0.1, there were some repeated issues that I thought were rather strange. Curious to know if anyone else has had these problems.

    1) Many clips came in without audio, and the recordist was quite sure it wasn’t due to any fault of his. I haven’t been able to check the tape to see if the audio made it on there.

    2) When I would select clips I had “logged and transfered” and then remove the advanced pulldown, most would go offline. Some I’d be able to reconnect with the “some aspects of your clips have changed” warning, but others would just not reconnect. I would try to import them fresh instead but then I’d get an “unrecognized file type, x unknown” error. For whatever reason, when I previewed these clips in the finder window, there seemed to be some kind of weird stutter at the start. So I thought I’d try cutting the opening second or so off of them in quicktime (which, I might add, opened the clips without issue and appeared to play them stutter-free) and then import these modified clips into FCP. Miraculously, this worked. I also tried just opening the clips in Quicktime and re-exporting them without trimming any part of them but those clips were not readable upon import to FCP.

    Sound familiar to anyone?
