  • HDX900 and Varicam two camera shoot. Can they match?

The question was brought up today regarding a two camera shoot with one Varicam and one HDX900. Can they be matched? I don’t know but I was hoping the Cow did.

We have access to the Varicam and the HDX900 paint remotes.

    Ray,

In the hands of a skilled engineer, a proper DSC Chroma du Monde Chart, an HD Waveform/Vectorscope and a high quality master monitor (viewed in proper lighting conditiond) these two cameras can be made to match, but it’s always easier to use two of the same cameras! Two similar cameras from the same manufacturer can usually be made to match, this is because they often share the same chipset and electronics.

    Hi Ray:

As John states, yes it can be done, but it requires skill and tools. One possible exception to this premie is that the HDX900 does not have VariCam’s Film REC Ciengamma mode, so you can’t match the 900 to a VariCam if shooting in Film Rec. Many folks often match the VariCam to the 900…. this works quite well and happens often.

    Cheers!
