    Hi there,

I am running FCP 5 – and cannot seem to capure HDV.

I have set my capture scratch to HDV – and I have set my device control to HDV and SONY HDV.

The message I get when I try to load log and capture is:

DEVICE IS NOT CONNECTED OR THE CAPTURE PRESET AND DEVISE CONTROL PRESET ARE NOT SETUP CORRECTLY. YOU MAY STILL LOG OFFLINE.
THIS MIGHT ALSO HAPPEN IF YOU PLAYDVD FOOTAGE IN HDV DEVICE.

    Any ideas out there?

    Thanks
    Tony

Check your “iLink” setup on your Sony deck. They are defaulted to downconvert the Firewire signal to DVCAM.

Help- everything was working fine for past several months- logging and capturing hdv in FCP5. Suddenly it will not capture HDV- same reels, same clips even, but still DOES capture DV. To my knowledge nothing has been altered or switched. Have cleaned up memory issues- plenty of memory. Have reinstalled FCP and re-updated to 5.1.2. It goes to the head of the clip just fine, but stops and starts, repeating in a loop on the first few frames of any clip told to capture. Have re-booted, run Repair Permissions, changed drives, cables, and the only thing left is to swap out the camera as deck to see if another works with my system, or mine works with a different system. Any ideas?
