I’m editing in HDV (using FCP6)and trying to get a good quality SD DVD (yes, I know this is difficult)…so, I made an Apple Pro Res (1440 x 1080)HQ sequence and copied my HDV edited video into that. Then, I exported using Quick Time Movie set for 1440 x 1080. The Quick Time Movie is pillar boxed. My HDV edited video is 16:9. But the QT is squishing it to 4:3. When I then take this into Compressor, it still looks pillar boxed. Am I doing something wrong? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks, Ellen

It sounds like your aspect for the footage and the sequence are off.

I would take a clip from your browser add it to your timeline – it should show up as 16×9 with no Pillar Box. Double click on that clip look at the distort settings, then check those against your other clips. If there is a difference, select all the distorted clips and choose remove attributes (distort), then copy the good clip and choose paste attributes (distort) and it should be all set.
