HDV to HDV Tape Output Problems Final Cut 6
I encountered a strange problem on Friday. A friend of mine was trying to output a 28 minute program from an HDV timeline to a Sony HDV deck. The core problem was that print to tape would play it for exactly 12:30 seconds, and then start “frame grabbing” as it recorded. We checked the machine and it was recording the stuttering frames. We tried everything we could think of to get it to play back..and discovered problem two. The AJA card seemed to have replaced the firewire direct output settings and would not let us call them up. We disconnected the card and access returned. We could not run it out the firewire directly to the machine without using “print to tape”. We switched final cut machines, and the same thing happened? Is this an HDV glitch? Or should he have rendered out to a different format?
